Deborah Wins!
I am proud and pleased to be the Representative for North Carolina House District 38. Thank you for your help and support. I want to keep making a difference for the residents of District 38.
As your representative, I pushed for laws to promote economic development and historic preservation, enhance economic security, increase education opportunities, make health care more affordable, and protect our neighborhoods.
This session I worked on several new laws that help and protect our citizens. I secured additional funding for the North Carolina Housing Trust Fund and several projects in downtown Raleigh. I promoted new programs to help with the cost of higher education. I supported a high risk insurance pool, mental health parity, and tax credits for small businesses that offer health care. I sponsored new laws to protect victims of domestic violence. And, I worked with my colleagues from Wake County to improve environmental safety.
Continuing my work from last session, I pushed for pay raises for teachers and state employees. I also introduced bills to increase investment in our infrastructure, including additional urban transit options. I will continue to advocate for improvements to our mental health system and the future of the Dorothea Dix property. You can look at a list of these bills and others I sponsor on the legislature’s website at www.ncleg.net.
I am working hard for you in the General Assembly and will continue putting my experience to work for you.
House District 38 includes downtown Raleigh, part of Southeast Raleigh and part of Garner. My husband and I live in Boylan Heights in the heart of the district.
I run a grassroots re-election campaign. You may have seen me at CAC meetings, state employees' annual meetings, neighborhood and civic events, and churches. I enjoy meeting people and listening to their concerns because I care about our community. As your Representative, I will continue to be accessible and visible throughout the District.
Please take some time to take a look at my web site and the key issues I am working on: enhancing economic security, improving education opportunities, increasing access to health care, investing in our infrastructure, and promoting a clean and safe environment. You can email me at debkross@aol.com about issues that matter to you and campaign activities.
The legislature will reconvene in January, 2009. You can contact me at the NC General Assembly at 733-5773 or at deborahr@ncleg.net. My office is in Room 2223 of the Legislative Building on Jones Street. Please come and visit.
Very truly yours,
Deborah K. Ross
